Product Information
Lingerie from the late teens into the 1920's was elegant as well as frivolous. Garments of silk, satins and the new rage ~ rayon ~ were the choice for under clothing. Trimmings of lace with embellishments of ribbon rosettes were the standard for the young at heart.
This lovely bandeau has never been worn and still with the store tag of B. Altman, New York ~ Paris. It is made of two different styles of lace with silk ribbon attached to either end. A cluster of rosettes embellishes each end where the ribbon attaches to the lace.
The bandeau, although never going out of style, from one century to another and from one decade to the next, became quite a fashionable head dress during the flapper era.
During the roaring 20's, the bandeau was made of ribbons and laces decorated with many different embellishments to fit the whim of the wearer.
Measurement: 14" long from the edge of lace to the other edge. Width of the lace is 3-1/4" wide. Each ribbon ties measure 15" long.
Condition: Although unused you will find some oxidation to the ribbon and lace.
