Product Information
An Edwardian era hat dating about 1910-1915 made of a brown silk faille. Turned up brim with a high crown, the hat is decorated with a champagene colored satin ribbon that is draped and gathered into a loose knot at the front. The brim as well as the crown are stiffened to hold the shape of the hat.
Circumference of the inside of the hat is 19" with the hat sitting more on the top of the head. Although this measurement does not seem that large, it actually is more roomy due to the shape of the hat.
Circumference along the outside edge of the brim is 33" around.
Height of the crown is 3-1/2" tall. Height of the turned up brim is 1-3/4" .
Condition is very nice, however, as expected for the age there are minor flaws. Some wear at the wear points of the hat such as the top of the rim of the brim. A couple ever so tiny snags of the fabric on the brim. Very minor. The large flower is silk so there is some shattering of the silk but very presentable.
All flaws I consider minor and certainly would be a nice addition to a collection.
Large silk flower overlays the ribbon in shades of tan & light brown..
Another look ~ as you notice a good portion of the top of the hat, as well as one side, is covered with the ribbon and flower.
Looking at the hat from another angle. The edge of the turned up brim and inside the brim is also covered in satin. Looking closely at the above photo this can be seen.
A narrow band of satin. the same color as the inside of the brim, is situated high on the crown. This trim runs the circumference of the crown.
Satin lining ~ no tags or labels.
Satin is in very nice condition.
