Antique Victorian - Edwardian Gibson Girl 2 pc Lady's Dress
Dating from the late Victorian, early Edwardian era a lady's 2 pc dress with Gibson Girl or Leg of Mutton sleeves. It is a wonderful plaid fabric in possibly a blend of wool and linen. Definitely wool but I think it also has some linen in the fabric. It is a plaid of tans and red with a dark brown and cream stripe. Plush velvet trimming in a shade of grey/green?. Certainly a wonderful accent to the plaid fabric. Bodice has hook and eye closure down the front with a high neck collar that should have a hook & eye to fasten at the side of the neck (the hook is missing). Large full leg of mutton sleeves trimmed at the wrist with the velvet. Velvet strips form a V on the back of bodice cluminating in a large bow at the center back waist Bodice is fully lined including the sleeves. Cloth tag with the owner's name is sewn to the inside jacket but at this point I am unable to read the name. Skirt is constructed with fullness in the back of skirt with a smooth line to the front. Hook and eye closure at the back of the skirt. (this area does need some repair around the closure). Measurements: Length of skirt center front is 43" long. 44" long center back. Waist is 26". Bodice: Center back is 18"long. Neck line to hem is 17-1/2" center front. 13" across from shoulder to shoulder. Waist 23". Bust 31". Condition: For the age is it good, however, it is not without its flaws although no major damage. Some staining and soiling which is common for storage. Small to tiny holes in the fabric. Again, no major damage but do expect flaws. The plaid of this dress is wonderful and certainly displays quite nicely. This item will be shipped via FedEx.
