1930 Vintage Bias Cut Evening Dance Dress Gown With Slip

What to wear to a summer dance in the year 1932?  The lass that wore this red and white Organdy dress or gown would have certainly turned heads on her entrance to the dance hall.  And as she danced to her favorite music, the dress was swishing and swirling around her ankles.

The 1930's was the era of the bias cut which clearly defines the natural shape of the body, clinging then falling to the hem with a beautiful flare.  This dress also features two other characteristic of the era with its deep V back and full cap sleeves.   The fabric at the neckline of the shoulder area is shirred tapering to the point of the "V" at the back.  The added detail gives dimension to the shoulders and back of the dress.  Hook and snaps close the side opening. To give the dress motion and movement at the hem, a ruffle has been added.   The dress also includes its own petticoat, tailored to be worn with the dress.  It is made of solid red fabric in a polished cotton.

Condition of both the dress and slip are both in very nice condition.  Although not recently cleaned I found no stains or soil.

No holes, rips or tears.

Measurements:  Length from the shoulder to hem 54-1/2" long.  29" bust, 22" waist.  30" hip.
