Product Information
Many vanity or dresser pieces from the Late Victorian ~ Edwardian era can be beautiful appointments such as this lovely hand-held treasure
~~~~The Brush and Mirror~~~~
The repousse brass setting of the brush and mirror is in an Art Nouveau style of entwining flora and leaves. Both the front and back of the handles feature the same lovely decoration.
The back of the set are enamel with a small flora decal in the center. The outside edges around the decal are striking with the heavily raised enamel design in shades of soft colors.
The shape of the mirror is oval which is a more unusual find as most I see are round.
The enamel work of the mirror.
Condition of the mirror is very nice with no chips or flaking. It is not a beveled mirror.
A close up of the handle of the brush.
Handles of both brush and mirror or hollow.
A look at the back side handle of brush.
The enamel work of the brush.
The mirror measures 10" long from the top to the bottom of the handle. Width at the widest point is 3-5/8" wide.
Brush is 8-3/4" long x 2-5/8" at the widest point.
Condition of both pieces is very nice. A tiny amount of tarnish on the handles.
The bristles of the brush have been gently used with a few shortened/broken bristles at one edge. Certainly not an objection, in my opinion.
This area can be seen in the above photograph near the curve of the brush near the handle.
If you notice in the above two photos there is some damage to the handle of the mirror. This appears on the back side of the mirror.
Still, I believe it is a lovely set worthy of owning.
