Later Victorian shirred wool mohair lady's hat. A delightful hat embellished with pink silk taffeta ribbon and a wild plume of pink and brown ostrich feathers that simply jut out in an odd position on the hat.
The embellishment in the photo above is of pleated ribbon surrounding a centered triangle ornamentation of sequin, beadwork and faceted glass.
Color of the mohair on the crown is a brown-grey color. Rolled up brim is a sage green. A lovely combination
Condition of the hat is very nice. Some slight wear to the inside of the brim but minor. Possibly could stand a bit of steaming to reshape although not necesary. Measurement: 23-1/2" circumference around the inside of brim. Crown is 4" in depth. 1-1/2" turned up brim.
What a wonderful era hat!!
The same ribbon secures the feathers on the one side of the crown.

Fully lined in a black sateen. Nice lining. No maker's name or any other labels.
