A wonderful find from an lovely old estate! This lady's unworn cotton nightgown was part of a trousseau from about 1915.
The yoke is of cut work & embroidery. Scalloped neckline finished with pink ribbon to adjust the fit . Capped sleeves with scallop edging.
The side seams are sewn with just a slight flare with inset gussets at the hem to add extra width for movement around the bottom. A paper label of "Made In Italy" is still attached to the gown.
The cut of the gown is quite generous measuring 47" around the bust. Length of gown is 45" long.
The gown has been stored and never laundered so expect oxidation from storage.
