Product Information
The handkerchief or "hanky" was so part of the daily life, as much a part as a pair of shoes, prior to the box of kleenix. Not only was it a very necessary piece of cloth it was a decorative piece of cloth. Sometimes it was embellished with lace ornamentation and monograms.
Printed children's hankies from the 19th Century, to name a few, may have had themes of moral overtones or showed children in play or animals such as this barnyard handkerchief.
This cute late Victorian - 1900 cotton printed hanky features chickens, sheeps, cow and milk maid, plus a horse drawn hay wagon.
