A true Americana textile from the New England states. A wonderful brown check homespun with the reverse in a floral print shelf runner or possibly a valance.. Note attached dates it to Jan 1884. I believe the name on the note is Marshall Grundy.
The piece is machine and hand sewn. Some areas on both sides of the fabric have been pieced. I feel the fabric is a fine linen or possibly a linen/cotton blend. Deep scallops across the bottom. Measures 35" long x 8-1/2" wide. Beautiful condition.
