Product Information
For your simple country pleasure, I am offering a mid 1800s hand quilted baby bonnet in a white cotton muslin. Even though now it is quite oxidated from over a 100 years of storage, it is no less charming.
It is quilted 12 stitches to the inch in a diagonal quilting pattern through the body of the bonnet. Four corded rows along the outside edge, again, with tiny tiny stitches. Crown of the bonnet is quilted in a vertical stitch. It appears the bonnet is made of two layers of fabric with no batting between the layers. Short twill tape ties.
Except for the oxidation, the bonnet is in very nice condition. Measurements: 11" along the neck line edge from side to side. 11-1/2" from side to side along the face area.
Would fit a baby about 4 to 6 months of age. The wonderful bonnet has been descension from a small museum in Ohio. Perfect for a country home, dressing a cloth doll or just to admire.
