Product Information
Handkerchief boxes or cases were very much a part of a milady's vanity, not only to store the pretty hankies but also keep them clean, tidy and neat. I am offering another one of those Edwardian creations hand made of silk and ribbon. The box is comprised of four small flaps and a bottom of cardboard, then covered in plaid silk ribbon. The soft sides are of a red silk gathered & attached to the flaps and bottom of case.
The depth of this box would hold a larger selection of hankies as it measures 3" deep. It is 4-1/2" square.
Condition: Due to the age I found a few tiny splits in the ribbon. In my opinion, the splits are minor, as one would need to examine closely to find. Therefore, I consider the box to be in nice condition.
A look at the box opened. As you notice - all the tiny hand stitches to sew the box together.
