We associate hardanger embroidery as a type of Norwegian fancy work, however, this type of needlework possibly has its roots in ancient Persia eventually migrating to Norway. This form of embroidery using counted thread and drawnwork is still ever popular today. Our featured vintage antique hardanger embroidery square table doily above dates from the early 1900s - 1930s. It is in very nice condition and it measures 6-1/2" square.
