Product Information
This 19th Century Tartan Ware hexagon thread box holds six spools of thread. Paper label inside of lid of the John Clark Junr. & Co. Thomas Russell, Sole Agent for the United States. Although there are six old spools only one has the label of John Clark.
There are two others of Ace, with one of these unused. One unused spool with no label, another The Spool Cotton Co. The paper label on the last spool is not easy to read.
Therefore except for possibly the one spool all have been used and replaced over time. Size of the box is 4" long x 2-3/4" wide x 1-7/8" tall.
From the front of box looking at the lid. A couple of small nicks to the paper and a spot at the front corner.
The box has been enjoyed and used over the years so does show some wear. Another view of the front & lid.
Back of the box showing the hinges. A small chip of the paper loss on each of the corners of the lid at the back.
A close up this area.
