From the roaring 20's / Flapper age, a gorgeous unused rosette dress or millinery accent trim. However, I more inclined to believe it usage would have been for a powder puff wand that was ever so popular during the time period. The size certainly seems right.
This lovely flower rosette is made of ribbon "rows" of petals, each sewn to the backing of a stiffen net. As the rows extend to the center the color hues become lighter.
Varigated colors of metallic form the stamen.
The piece is all hand stitched. The size of the "flower" rosette measures 5" diamter.
A gorgeous amount of this type of rosette was produced by the Boag Ribbon Company. Much of the hand work produced by Boag Ribbon Company was sewn by a cottage industry employed on a piece work basis. Although I'm not certain this rosette was produced by this company is certainly is a good possibility.
The rosette is unused and in wonderful minty condition.
