Here is a sweet heart shaped trinket box dating from the early part of the 1900s. The box is contructed of cardboard with the lid covered in plush velvet that has extra padding to cushion.
The lid is decorated with a celluloid button of a Colonial gentlemen edged in brass. Some checking to the surface of the celluloid.
Inside of the box is lined in red sateen fabric.
A brass banding in a friligree pattern of flora, trims the outside edge of the box. Not exactly expertly joined at the back of the box.
A look at the cardboard bottom. Condition of the bottom is decent, however, it does have some flaws as can be seen in the above photograph.
As to be expected some loss of plushness to the fabric on the lid. Its flaws are only from normal usage over the last 100 years.
On examining the box closely there is a possibility it is a hand constructed box, however, I will not guarantee it to be.
Size: 3-1/4" long x 2-3/4" wide at the widest point of the heart. 1-1/4" high.
An adorable little box so perfect for a box collection, a gift to a sweetheart Valentine or nestled with dolls and toys.
