A Significant Piece Of Americana
This historical apron is from the 1890 Cotton Centenary printed in red, white & blue. Apron was manufuctured by Dunnel Mfg Co for distribution at the Cotton Centenary of 1890 in Pawtucket, R.I. Aprons, such as this one, were made to commenorate the 100th anniversary (1790-1890) of Samuel Slater's cotton spinning machinery at old Slater Mill.
Printed on the apron is the Old Slater Mill and a likness of Samuel Slater, flags, and stars as well as stripes of red, and blue also appear.
Condition is very good ~ possibly some fading over the course of time. Also a few tiny pinholes but no major stains or damage. Short tabs at the ends of the waist band probably pinned in the back for fastening around the waist. Measurement is 35" long. Very unusual find and possibly a rare find.
