Product Information
A slate board was essential for children learning school lessons during the 19th Century into the early part of the 20th century. This pine framed slate board dates from the late 1800's or very early 1900's. In the original finish the board appears to be doweled near the joints, however, I have noticed a couple of small nails probably to secure the frame at a later date to hold it together.
A well worn patina and a few chips in the slate makes this board a great choice to a country collector.
End and side of the slate to show how it has been mortise and tenon.
Size is 8-3/4" x 12-1/4"
Condition: Some wear - not perfect but a great primitive look.
