The lady wore black….a Victorian black mourning bonnet hat from the later 1880’s time era. The pretty bonnet is made on a wire frame, covered at the edge, near the face, with open weave horsehair, in a pleasing design.
The covering of the back of the bonnet is a dotted tulle netting. Embellishments are tidbits of Chantilly lace and a wired taffeta ribbon. The back edge of the bonnet is accented with taffeta bows which attaches to the taffeta ribbon ties. Inside the bonnet is lined in a black fabric which covers the wire framework.
