Another busy week and where does the time go? It certainly rambles down the road at a quick pace and even though it “speeds by” at a quick clip there are many memories made.
So this week I have been caught up entertaining vacationing family from the cold depth of Ohio. They are here soaking up the sun (along with some rain) and renewing their spirit. It has been a fun time but now its back to putting life in a normal routine pace. With that in mind, I devoted a few hours to taking photos, writing descriptions and listing a few new items at The Gatherings Antique Vintage. Hope you will stop very soon to do some browsing.

1900 Edwardian Ruffled Baby Bonnet
An organdy ruffled baby or young child bonnet dating from the Edwardian era. Oh, so sweet and a perfect bonnet for photography work.

Gorgeous Vintage Wide Lace Yardage
Here is a lovely piece (4 yards) of vintage lace yardage for your next sewing project! Don’t miss this find!

Silk Embroidery Table Centerpiece Doily
When I happened upon this wonderful piece recently it did take my breath away. The depth and beauty of each of the roses is fantastic! The lovely centerpiece doily is embroidered in silk thread on a tinted stamped linen. Dating from the early 1900’s it would be an exceptional piece to own.

“The glorious piece features a cherub (cupid or angel) painting the final strokes with his paintbrush the Italian word “Felicita” meaning happiness, pleasure or delight. With the vibriant color of the shadowing of the purple irises and the softness of the forget-me-not flora on the rose moire “……..
When I first viewed this piece, upwrapping it from the tissue, I could hardly believe the beauty. It is so magnificently breath taking ~ and without seeing all of the photographs no words can describe this Object d Art. So to view all the photographs please

Oh my gosh, I feel I am running way behind and haven’t given my blog the attention I should! It has been a busy 10 days including a short trip over to Phoenix to visit friends with the hubbies attending the car auctions at Scottsdale. So now I will settle in for a bit until a trip to Nashville for some fantastic shopping at the country antique show. Can hardly wait!
Still, I did manage to squeeze in some time to add a few new ”treats” to my store, The Gatherings Antique Vintage. If you have a second I hope you will come on over to take a look . Here’s a sneak peek at some of those offerings…………

Vintage 1930 Crib Quilt
Certainly this crib quilt would be a winner with a small child. Hand quilted and appliqued scotty dogs on this Depression era quilt.

Now talk about fun! And what could be more fun than goofies / realistic buttons? A whole collection could be amassed around this one type of button!

Vintage Embroidery Pigs Kitchen Towels
Certainly these delightful embroidered pig kitchen towels would bring a smile to the face and chase away some of those winter blues. The awning color stripes of the towels along with the amusing embroidery would make the chore of drying dishes a labor of fun. Six days of the week are represented (possibly the 7th towel was never completed? One only wonders? It would seem so as only one towel has the crochet trim edging with the remainder undone).

Vintage Embroidered Pig Kitchen Towels
Embroidering sets of kitchen towels with hot iron transfers from such notable companies such as Vogart Co. were the rage during the war years into the 1950’s. And why wouldn’t these colorful towels help brighten the somber mood of a nation coming to the end of the war years. Certainly it was one way for home folks to have their spirits lifted.

Vintage Embroidery Pig Kitchen Towels
This set dates from the 1940s – 1950s in unused condition. For more of these “fun” hot iron transfer items please

The celebration of the closing of the old year and the beginning of the new has always been a time for reveling and merry making.
At the beginning of the 20th Century the sending and receiving of postcards to mark the ocassion was in its heyday ~ even sending to neighbors, friends and family living across the street. And as the one card suggest “May Your New Year Be A Howling Success”. Now doesn’t that say it all?
So I say to each and everyone may 2010 be a successful and prosperous new year. May joy and happiness abound….and best of all, let the good times roll……
Please have a safe holiday.

Are you in love with vintage fashions from the 1930’s era? I find it is a fascinating style period full of sleek sophistication, of plunging necklines, and the skirt with definite movement attributed to the bias cut. Often time each and all the above details were incorporated into a single garment making it absolutely sheer beauty for the wearer as well as the beholder. It was a time of dress up and glamour.
Now doesn’t this gorgeous velvet and fur trimmed coat from the late 1930’s elude to high fashion style speaking of dress up and glamour?

Late 1930 Velvet and Fur Trimmed Coat
It is a wrap coat of black velvet fabric cut at the hem just to give enough swing to make a statement. Fur trimming at the front opening and hem line.

Late 1930 Velvet And Fur Trimmed Coat
The collar can either be left open or buttoned across the one shoulder . Buttoned doesn’t it suggest a high style sophistication?
